Wade began his music career in nursery school singing
The Beatles - "Come Together" to his class.
He further explored music by singing in the glee club
and studying the piano in elementary school. Through
junior high and high school he played the clarinet and
the trumpet.
In
1995, a year after graduating from high school, Wade
purchased his first pair of turntables and began collecting
vinyl. Spinning everything from underground hip hop
to dancehall reggae, he began packing dance floors from
Providence to Boston spinning at private functions and
night clubs. He became known as "Selek" for
his ability to select the hottest tracks.
It
seemed only natural that Wade progress his style into
a radio show format and in 1997 "Selektions"
began on 91.1 WSMU. Every Wednesday night from 10am
- 2pm Wade brought South Eastern Massachusetts an upbeat
mixture of underground hip hop and electronic club music.
He also began producing his own beats picking up a Korg
Triton and building a home production studio.
In
1999 Wade teamed up with Bryan Giusti to form the DJ
tandem "Goast and Selek". Their mixed CDs
are still considered classics to this day by local dance
music fans. Their club resume' includes "Pulse"
and "Fusion" in Providence and "Absolute"
and "Play" in Boston. Goast and Selek were
eventually offered a residency at "Crickets"
(later called "Mr. Downtown") in New Bedford
and have been featured at several other local venues
such as "Inner Bay Cafe'", "Bar 908",
and "Martini 101".
More
recently Wade has taken a break from the club gigs to
concentrate on private functions. In 2006 he formed
Funtime DJ Services together with three other top local
DJs and Funtime has now grown into one of the most reputable
DJ companies in South Eastern Massachusetts.
